Thomas Edward Yeakley, 79, of Poplar Bluff went home to be with our Lord July 6th, 2018, after dying peacefully surrounded by his family at home.

Tom was born June 10th, 1939, in Xenia, Ohio. In October of 1961, Tom enlisted with the National Guard, then was activated into the Army as a Medic during the Berlin Crisis.

He married his wife, Donna Cloud Yeakley, in February 1963. They moved to Poplar Bluff in 1968.
Tom became one of the Charter teachers for the Vocational Technical Career Center, teaching Graphic Arts and printing for 33 years to high school students in the Poplar Bluff School District.

Tom was a faithful Christian and an active member of the First Baptist Church for 46 years. He served his church selflessly. Tom was a sweet, gentle spirit and his kindness quietly touched the hearts of so many.

Tom is survived by his wife, Donna Yeakley of the home; two daughters, Angela McLane and husband Joey McLane of Poplar Bluff; Kim Sexton and fiancé John Miller of Poplar Bluff; two grandchildren, Marissa Cohen and husband Bryce Cohen of Poplar Bluff; Zack Sexton of Springfield, MO; one great grandchild, Zayden Michael Thomas Sexton; one sister Shirley Meyer of Poplar Bluff; one step-sister Sandy Miller of Bloomington, IN; a special niece, Erica Crossen and husband Terry Crossen of Poplar Bluff; two great-nephews, Brady Thomas Crossen and Eli Thomas Crossen; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Yeakley and mother, Mildred (Sis) Yeakley, and step-mother, Martie Yeakley of Xenia, OH.

Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2018 at First Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff. Funeral service will be held following visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow at the City Cemetery. Moore Funeral Service is providing arrangements, and service will be officiated by William Vail and Brandon Spain.
